After remodeling my master bedroom I wanted to finish it off with a beautiful sliding door. A door that feels more like a portal than an entry point. I went down to Albany, Oregon to the Hardwood Centre and hand picked out some 6/4 Oregon Black Walnut and a few alder boards.

After building the door using the walnut, I proceeded to design and inlay some strips of alder to give a contrast to the dark walnut. The golden accents on the dark brown door came out better than I imagined.

But the true beauty of this sliding door is that the hardware is so masterfully built that it allows the 100 pound door to glide with the lightest push of a pinky. The hardware for the slider was machined from solid aluminum, and hand finished by the creators of Krownlab in NW Portland. I am a strong supporter of high quality materials and they exceeded my expectations!
